News from JOB2SEA – Oct. 2011

At this issue of NEWS from JOB2SEA we are very proud to tell you that we have big news.

JOB2SEA have now grown into a success story. In Denmark where we have focused our efforts, JOB2SEA is already a well respected brand completely dominating the maritime job market.

The implementation of Search & Selection services in Denmark have been well received, with several interesting jobs. We recently succeeded in placing a hard to find profile as Director for Danfoss Semco and are currently working for prestigious companies like MAN Diesel & Turbo and Mærsk Supply.

We have now more than 1000 job seeking maritime profiles registered with CV at JOB2SEA and within the last year we have co-operated with more than 120 companies. We have close to 20.000 visits per months and have uploaded more than 800 jobs over the last 6 months.

JOB2SEA are now focusing on our social media strategy which is why you will find us on:

Twitter: https://twitter.com/#!/Job2Sea

Facebook Page: http://www.facebook.com/JOB2SEA

Facebook profile: http://www.facebook.com/JOB2SEA#!/profile.php?id=100001771914323

Linkedin Group: http://www.linkedin.com/groups/JOB2SEA-3664553?trk=myg_ugrp_ovr

Linkedin Profile: http://www.linkedin.com/in/lefevre

The idea behind being present on various platforms is that we meet the users where they are. Some groups use Facebook for private and business networking where others separate the networks. We are very active on Linkedin and recommend that you finalize your profile and connect if you want to be considered for the next exciting task we can offer. Thousands of profiles have already been contacted by us on LinkedIn.

Now to the big news:

In December 2011 we will launch a completely new job portal at www.job2sea.com

The present portal has been very efficient in taking us to the level we are now, but with the growth strategy we are following we want to be sure that it is not technology that set the limits. This is the reason that we have contracted with the market leader in Job Board software.

The new portal will look different, but will be much easier to navigate around. C.V´s can be uploaded within minutes and the amount of jobs on the site, due to our partnerships, will increase significantly.

We will implement a smart phone web application so you can use JOB2SEA on the go, you can even send your application from your smart phone.

This will be our Christmas present to the maritime community and our loyal users. A job board with all the known functions from the most professional job boards in the world – but designed and tailor-made to the maritime business.

At the moment, major parts of our time are occupied with visiting companies from all sectors in the maritime business and ensure that we cover the needs for all of them.

Finally some inspiration: Less than 2% of the people that work in the North European maritime business are without job. It is quite different from other industries where we are above 6% now. The result of this is that we tend to move people from job to job instead of only offering unemployed people a job. Another important aspect is that many of the profiles that we contact to offer them a job has not shown significant interest in changing – but the conditions that we have been able to offer have made them realize that it was time to change.

The point here is that you should consider yourself a jobseeker throughout your entire career. You may be perfectly happy with your job, thinking you have a fair salary and conditions are good. But maybe a company is searching hard for a profile with exactly your qualifications. They may outrun your present employer completely on compensation, but if you are not present out there, how can they find you?

As a minimum, you must be available on LinkedIn and connected to the right people. You should be member of some relevant groups. If you want to improve your changes, you should upload a C.V. at JOB2SEA or other relevant jobboards and then you should just continue with your good job. You should not consider changing then, unless you are offered good reasons.

As my mum use to say, if you never play the lottery, you never win the price. You should grant old Lady Fortune a chance to find you.

With these last words, only thing left to say is thank you for your support and for helping us growing JOB2SEA day by day.

Yours Sincerely,

Jakob le Fevre
