News from JOB2SEA – Oct. 2011

At this issue of NEWS from JOB2SEA we are very proud to tell you that we have big news.

JOB2SEA have now grown into a success story. In Denmark where we have focused our efforts, JOB2SEA is already a well respected brand completely dominating the maritime job market.

The implementation of Search & Selection services in Denmark have been well received, with several interesting jobs. We recently succeeded in placing a hard to find profile as Director for Danfoss Semco and are currently working for prestigious companies like MAN Diesel & Turbo and Mærsk Supply.

We have now more than 1000 job seeking maritime profiles registered with CV at JOB2SEA and within the last year we have co-operated with more than 120 companies. We have close to 20.000 visits per months and have uploaded more than 800 jobs over the last 6 months.

JOB2SEA are now focusing on our social media strategy which is why you will find us on:

Twitter: https://twitter.com/#!/Job2Sea

Facebook Page: http://www.facebook.com/JOB2SEA

Facebook profile: http://www.facebook.com/JOB2SEA#!/profile.php?id=100001771914323

Linkedin Group: http://www.linkedin.com/groups/JOB2SEA-3664553?trk=myg_ugrp_ovr

Linkedin Profile: http://www.linkedin.com/in/lefevre

The idea behind being present on various platforms is that we meet the users where they are. Some groups use Facebook for private and business networking where others separate the networks. We are very active on Linkedin and recommend that you finalize your profile and connect if you want to be considered for the next exciting task we can offer. Thousands of profiles have already been contacted by us on LinkedIn.

Now to the big news:

In December 2011 we will launch a completely new job portal at www.job2sea.com

The present portal has been very efficient in taking us to the level we are now, but with the growth strategy we are following we want to be sure that it is not technology that set the limits. This is the reason that we have contracted with the market leader in Job Board software.

The new portal will look different, but will be much easier to navigate around. C.V´s can be uploaded within minutes and the amount of jobs on the site, due to our partnerships, will increase significantly.

We will implement a smart phone web application so you can use JOB2SEA on the go, you can even send your application from your smart phone.

This will be our Christmas present to the maritime community and our loyal users. A job board with all the known functions from the most professional job boards in the world – but designed and tailor-made to the maritime business.

At the moment, major parts of our time are occupied with visiting companies from all sectors in the maritime business and ensure that we cover the needs for all of them.

Finally some inspiration: Less than 2% of the people that work in the North European maritime business are without job. It is quite different from other industries where we are above 6% now. The result of this is that we tend to move people from job to job instead of only offering unemployed people a job. Another important aspect is that many of the profiles that we contact to offer them a job has not shown significant interest in changing – but the conditions that we have been able to offer have made them realize that it was time to change.

The point here is that you should consider yourself a jobseeker throughout your entire career. You may be perfectly happy with your job, thinking you have a fair salary and conditions are good. But maybe a company is searching hard for a profile with exactly your qualifications. They may outrun your present employer completely on compensation, but if you are not present out there, how can they find you?

As a minimum, you must be available on LinkedIn and connected to the right people. You should be member of some relevant groups. If you want to improve your changes, you should upload a C.V. at JOB2SEA or other relevant jobboards and then you should just continue with your good job. You should not consider changing then, unless you are offered good reasons.

As my mum use to say, if you never play the lottery, you never win the price. You should grant old Lady Fortune a chance to find you.

With these last words, only thing left to say is thank you for your support and for helping us growing JOB2SEA day by day.

Yours Sincerely,

Jakob le Fevre

NEWS FROM JOB2SEA July 2011

In this issue of “News From JOB2SEA” we would like to give you an update about our activities, plans for the future and some technical infomation.

Update:

At the moment, we are running – if not in super slow steaming mode – at least in reduced speed. In Europe we are in the middle of the main summer holiday. The good thing about this is that finally, there is space on the road – the bad thing is that everyone is on holiday, so there is no reason to go to work.

That leaves us with time to plan for the future and to adjust our strategy. First half of 2011 was very good for JOB2SEA. We have established a co-operation with some of the most important players in the business, including but not limited to Halcyon Recruitment and Utsira. We have got some of the bigggest Danish ship owners as partners and we have reached our part target to become the number one maritime job portal in Denmark.

We started in April with recruitment business – limited to Danish companies for logistic reasons - and we have fulfilled the first task, a placement of a Sales Manager for Danfoss Semco. We have got 3 more jobs in the book and look forward to get further into this segment. Having the advantage of direct access to a database of more than 10.000 maritime professionals certainly helps when you are hunting for talent.

Statistics are proving our succes – we have more than 13.000 visits to the site per month, in average around 100 jobs and more than 150 users logging into the site everyday.

Plans for the future:

The next 6 months will be dedicated further promotion in Scandinavia. Our research shows that there are several new maritime job websites starting up and we believe that we can compete on our regional presence and personal service.

Technical issues:

We have through our analysis of our platform learned that our users find JOB2SEA a bit complicated to use. Especially uploading of CV´s have proven more challenging than originally intended. We are working hard to solve this and will keep you updated about the process.

Credits:

Finally, we would like to express our thanks to our marketing partner www.designunivers.dk who have performed an outstanding job in creating our marketing material. He have worked several years in the maritime business and knows the language and his prices are realy reasonable. If you need to have something done, call him and refer to JOB2SEA and I am sure you will get excellent service.

Your support of our project means a lot to us,

Yours Sincerely,

Jakob le Fevre

News from JOB2SEA

In this issue of news from JOB2SEA we have a lot of interesting information.

First, it is really nice to see the portal take off and the increasing amount of both companies and job seekers who actively use JOB2SEA.

In March we had around 100 CV users logging into the site in average per day and 12.000 visits to the portal. We have had at all time between 60 and 110 jobs on the site and the feedback from the companies is that they receive a satisfying amount of qualified applicants from JOB2SEA when they post a job.

The increased use of JOB2SEA have caused some challenges for us – suddenly all functions of the site are tested by our users and like with all new systems coming into use this has exposed some weaknesses and need for improvements. We are working hard to solve this and if you in the meantime are experiencing something that should be better then please don´t hesitate to let us know at info@job2sea.com

We have entered into a close partnership with www.maritimedanmark.dk  ensuring that all new positions are being uploaded to this news portal too to ensure maximum exposure.

We can now offer a unique package to all companies operating in the maritime sector – exposure at maritimedanmark, jobindex, in the newsletter from Danish Goverments Seamans Services (with around 5000 readers) and advanced functionality at job2sea – all at one point of contact.

JOB2SEA have entered the recruitment business now too and are now offering complete recruitment packages. We are happy to inform that we are already searching after candidates – the first one is mentioned at the end of this newsletter.

We are happy to welcome Mærsk Tankers, Mærsk Line and Mærsk Supply who have entered into a VIP partnership ensuring that all seagoing positions now will be uploaded at Job2sea.

Remember that we have a blog at http://job2sea.wordpress.com/

And a LinkedIn group at http://www.linkedin.com/groups/JOB2SEA-3664553?mostPopular=&gid=3664553

Yours Sincerely,
